We will be spending a few days in Annapolis and my partner wants to spend a few hours on a beach. Are there any good beaches close to Annapolis? We will be staying at the Marriott Waterfront.

Annapolis is a port town as opposed to a beach town. So there are not allot of beach options.
The only real public beach is Sandy Point State Park, which is about 15 or 20 minutes away (however, it is close to the Bay Bridge and eastbound traffic can be very bad at afternoon rush hour, when ocean beach traffic is heavy, or if there is accident on the bridge). Sandy Point State Park is on the Chesapeake Bay so there are no waves, plus you have to worry about jelly fish at times. However, it is relatively large area and you have a cool view of the Bay and the Bay Bridge.
To get to an ocean beach, it is a 2 to 3 hour drive to Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, or Ocean City. However, beach traffic can double the driving time if you go at a peak time and there are back-ups.
