I would say pretty good - use some of the OC sites and shop around - We were down there last week, and I was surprised to see the number of vacancy signs all over - previous years, everything was full.

Those vacancy are most likey ther top dollar rooms.

But to answer the question you can find a room but it will be bayside or ocean block. You wont get ocean front rooms for $150..

Actually, Tfunky, vacancy signs were everywhere - On Parrot Lagoon, Flamingo, Tides, etc... from low end places to high end places. So, even if they were the more expensive rooms, rooms were still available at some of the more reasonable hotels. In fact, Parrott Lagoon was advertising a stay two night get one free special.

I agree,you can find rooms even during the bussiest times of the summer. I looked at the Parrot Lagoon, I%26#39;m not sold on it yet as a place I want to stay at.

I%26#39;m in the same boat as ';Work2Vacation.'; A friend of mine just told me we are going to OC from the 2-5 and he has no hotel. He thought we would just show up and find a cheap one. I have looked on line and there is nothing under $200 a night. We dont mind to stay a few blocks off the beach (dont need beach front). Any ideas of good places to check out that are budget friendly and wont be sold out when we show up on thursday the 1st.

the Islander hotel has rates in your price range and at a good bayside location...

update on what I found: H.I. at 66th St. was booked, they said. I found a deal at Sea Bay Hotel at 60th St., room is under $150 night, but not by much
