Bus and tram

About a month away now from first trip there and have another question. We are staying around 45th St. Is this within walking distance of the Boardwalk? If not, does the bus go back and forth 24 hours a day? Do you need to buy tokens or pay cash? If so where do you get the tokens? And is there some kind of tram that goes up and down the Boardwalk area or is that the same thing. Thanks for the info, cant wait to get there.

45th street would be quite a walk to get to the Boardwalk.

The Boardwalk begins on 26th street at the northern end and runs 2 1/2 miles south to the inlet.

Could you walk it YES but its a lot of walking.

The bus service runs north and south along the coastal highway all day and night you can pay one fare and ride the bus all day as many times as you want.

You can pay with cash on the bus.

Or you could drive down to the Boardwalk area and then park your car.

The tram service runs along the Boardwalk only. From the inlet (southern most point) to the northern end at 26th street.

Most of the activity is located at the southern most end and as you head north it gets less busy and crowded. Most of the attractions would be found at the southern end.

I believe you have to pay for each time you ride on the tram don%26#39;t think there is a day pass offered but I could be wrong.

Here is a link that is very helpful. I think the bus coupon book is 10 (all day) tickets for $15. So it is a good savings if you have a family or plan to use the bus a few times during the week. We had fairly good luck finding side street parking, but you have to drive around a bit and be able to parallel park!! . Also if you plan on drinking -take the bus - traffic is horrendous in the evening. Better to be safe!!
