Anyone know what's going on with Trimper's?

Hey everyone. I%26#39;ve been hearing, or heard rather, about Trimper Rides having to close down, but the articles I keep reading are saying that they are still undecided, and I%26#39;ve googled it quite a few times. Anyone know if they are closing down for sure or not? Makes me a little (a lot) sad that they won%26#39;t be around anymore. I have to visit next week and get pictures for my mom. She grew up with it longer than I did LOL.

The Trimper Family is having a hard time paying thier real estate tax bill $900,000.00 per year. They have been trying to get thier taxes reduced but so far have not had any luck. They have launched a website www.savetrimpers.com where people can post thier memories and read about the situation.

On the website they also give links to email address for city, county and state officials so you can write them and ask them to do something to help save this OC landmark.

They are hoping for an affordable reassessment but otherwise will regretfully be forced to close. Yes, it%26#39;s sad. The land can only produce so much income as an amusement park, but is being assessed at its ';highest %26amp; best use'; (condos?) .

This is what happens to valuable farmland, %26amp; conservancies raise the money to ensure that these lands must stay agricultural. If OC is serious about conserving it%26#39;s landscape %26amp; traditional establishments, they will find a way.

Trimper%26#39;s is a cornerstone of the boardwalk. If it goes by the wayside, some families with small kids may think twice about going to OC. I realize that would be a very small percentage, but you need that diversity in the area to make it attractive.
