We were booked for the Hilton but because of the ridiculous price decided to cancel. We will take a chance and drive down without reservations. Maybe the Hilton offers a better price if there is a room available at the last minute. Otherwise I%26#39;m sure there will be something else to book. We will arrive on a Monday so some the the crowds should be gone. Does this sound like a good idea? Any expert opinions? Thanks....
good idea?
I%26#39;m no expert but I had a hect of a time boking a room for August. I do know July and August are OC busiest and rooms are will be hard to come by. I%26#39;m not saying you want be able to find a place but It might take you a good part of the day driving around to find a place.
I would go Oceancity.com
click on book/reservations
punch in dates
a selection of hotels with your dates will come up
good idea?
I wouldn%26#39;t take the chance this time of year. Check out the website mentioned or call 1-800-ococean. You may waste a whole day of your precious vacation driving around looking for a place to stay and that can be stessful.
You%26#39;ll probaby find a place if you don%26#39;t care where or what the rooms look like. I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s such a good idea this time of year. You might get lucky with a canellation. I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;d risk it.
good luck
What date are you going. Keep in mind that the White Marlin open is week of Aug 4 and rooms will be at a premium. Have you considered a condo( coldwell banker has most properties). Probably will cost you less depending on your preferences (ocean view, ocean block, etc.) Going without a reservation could be dicey.
Hotel owners recognize that there are more people desparate for last-minute rooms that it makes more sense to hold them open at full price rather than giving them up to bargain hunters.
If a $300 hotel has two rooms available at the last minute, it makes more sense to rent one for $300 and risk leaving the other empty than offering both at $150.
