First vacation in a long while. I will spend just a weekend in Ocean City. I don%26#39;t need the boardwalk right outside the door. From the reviews I%26#39;ve read, both the Econolodge and Holiday Inn Express seem like good, clean places and the price is right. There are only 3 reviews of the Econolodge, though, and only one is recent. Any suggestions on which of the 2 is a better bet?
Thanks much.
Econolodge or Holiday Inn Express?
I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express. In fact, someone just posted a review on this hotel. The HIE is one of the few places in Ocean City that doesn%26#39;t require a minimum stay in the summertime. It was built in 2000 and has both indoor and outdoor pools. I would think that the HIE would be a better value for you than the Econo Lodge. You get a free continental breakfast each morning, usually with outstanding cinnamon buns. The rooms are clean and are probably more modern than those at the Econo Lodge. Some of the rooms have beautiful views of the bay-you might want to request one of these. I hope that you will enjoy your stay.
Econolodge or Holiday Inn Express?
I was there June 29, 2007. We checked in to the EconoLodge for 3 nights and only stayed one night. It needs major upgrades! Not clean. I would suggest getting out of Ocean City and going about 5 miles north to the Holiday Inn Express in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Same price. Holiday Inn Express is new and clean. The walk to the ocean is a bit further because beach access is blocked by the condos. But the buildings are the same distance from the beach.
I can not begin to say how much better Bethany Beach is than Ocean City for families. Nice boardwalk. Beautiful homes, yards, flowers everywhere instead of mini-golf and a Sunsational store on every block.
