Seacrets

My Husband %26amp; I are going to be in OC Sept 16-21. We want to try out Seacrets. We are 38 %26amp; 37 yrs old. Not heavy partiers, but will definately be enjoying a drink or two or three. What%26#39;s the best time of the day/night to go %26amp; what day of the week.

Seacrets

Any day at Seacrets is good. Go during the day, enjoy a drink while hanging out at their bayside beach. Or during the happy hour time (early evening) before it gets real crowded at night.

Got to try their dirty banana...

Seacrets

Yes, definately go during the day--between 1 %26amp; 4--you will have fun and it%26#39;s nice and laid back--before the crowd comes rolling in.

Oh my...you can%26#39;t go to OCMD without stopping in Seacrets for at least one drink and a plate of their awesome jerk chicken. Go and have a good time and don%26#39;t be so hung up on the age thing. I%26#39;ve seen grandparents in their 60%26#39;s and 70%26#39;s having just as much fun as bunch of 20 somethings all at the same time. It does get more crowded as evening goes on, but stay long enough to see at least some of the crazy games Jim Long plays with the crowd between sets. There is 3, sometimes 4 live acts during the day. The Jim Long band starts at 5 pm on the beach stage. Then after him a reggae band plays on the beach stage until closing time. On the inside stage in the night club portion, a modern rock/party band takes the stage at 10 pm and plays until closing time. If you are up for it, be in the club around midnight when a ton of balloons and confetti are dropped on the dance floor. Seacrets is truly one of the most unique entertainment venues in the world.

question:

We are in our 40%26#39;s...have 2 kids, 10 %26amp; 13. What is there to do with the kids while we dring at Seacrets? Also, is there a cover charge to get in an use their beach?

Your 10 and 13 year old won%26#39;t have much to do. Seacrets has a Maryland Class B liquor license which means minors are permitted on the property, but must be seated and accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times and this policy is strictly enforced for the most part. So from what I can gather from your question, Seacrets does not have arcade games or any other form of entertainment to keep a 10 and 13 year old occupied while mom and dad are off drinking at one of the 16 bars. Also, Seacrets is gigantic and minors are limited to the seating areas and are not allowed on the beach or pier.

Don%26#39;t get me wrong, Seacrets does welcome parents with underage kids, but only for the ';restaurant'; portion of the business. They have a kids menu along with coloring books and crayons and kid sized drinking cups. However, Seacrets is truly a unique place where the lines between the restaurant area and the adult drinking areas are somewhat blurred. Management does their best to try and accomodate everyone, but Seacrets is primarily an adult place and that%26#39;s who they cater to the most. If you want to have lunch there, then go ahead and check the place out. You shouldn%26#39;t got to OC without seeing this place first hand. Have a nice lunch, take in the sights and sounds Seacrets has to offer and partake in a few adult beverages while you are waiting for you food. You will really think you%26#39;ve been transported off OC to some tropical island in the Caribbean. The place is amazing.

Oh yeah, cover charge starts at 5 PM. $5 at 5 PM, $6 at 6 PM,...etc., up to $10 at 10 PM, but I don%26#39;t think they allow minors in much past 6 or 7 anyway. They have to be off the premises by 8 or 9 PM or something like that. On a Saturday, I wouldn%26#39;t have my kids there much past 4 PM, as there will be a decent amount of people who have been drinking since the doors opened at 11 am and by 4 PM there will be some pretty drunk people stumbling around already.

Thanks so much...we%26#39;ll probably just stop in to check it out as Jamaica is our favorite island to vacation on (been there 6 times)

Actually, Mink, I was shocked last week - No cover at all at Seacrets Tues or Weds night. It wasn%26#39;t that crowded, and I think they have some competition from newer places like Castaways - that was JAMMED on Thurs night with Storm playing, where Seacrets was not crowded.

You will definitely love Seacrets if you love JA - my friends and I joke that it is as close as we can get to feeling like we are on the NEgril beach without hopping a plane - and since we were in Negril 3 times in the last year, you could say that we are addicted!
