Bike Rentals and Open Boardwalk

As many times as I have been to Ocean City, and stayed on the boardwalk all but ONE time, I don%26#39;t know when all of the stores from Inlet to about 5th open up. I also don%26#39;t know where any of the bike rental places are. Never needed them since we stayed right on the boardwalk.. Anyway, this year my fiance and I are staying at the Golden Sands pretty far up, closer to Delaware. We%26#39;d like to take a bike ride during sunrise at least once, so we need to know where the bike rental places are near/on the boardwalk. I%26#39;d like to know when all of the shops open up since we%26#39;re actually staying so far away from the boardwalk, I%26#39;d hate to just bike around for a while only to go all the way back to the room only to return later in the day

to go shopping. Thanks everyone! :-) 9 more days until we leave!!

Oh yes, anyone on these boards coming from Northern or Central VA? We usually go the North route into DC and then over the bridge and straight in OC, but we%26#39;ve also gotten directions that are way shorter that go into Delaware and THEN into OC. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a Rt. 3 starting in Culpeper Va to Rt. 301 route?

Here%26#39;s a list of bicycle shops:

Since bicycling on the Boardwalk is only allowed until 10 a.m., I suspect most places down there would be open on the early side--7 a.m. or earlier.

As for your directions--3/301 will bypass the Beltway and I-95 traffic to get you on your way to the Bay Bridge. Once you cross the Bay Bridge, going through Delaware will save you 10+ miles versus taking Rt. 50/90 and can be advantageous when headed to the northern part of town (like you are to the Golden Sands).

50 usually runs closer to full speed (multiple lanes, fewer lights), than the more rural Delaware routes and makes up for the 10+ extra miles.

Whether to take 50 through Maryland or 404 through Delaware is occasionally debated in this forum, but in the end, the faster route always depends on traffic conditions on both routes all the way to the beach at a specific moment in time--something very few of us have access to. You%26#39;ll only know the faster route in hindsight, don%26#39;t sweat it too much.

Hey tubman, thanks so much! Looks like Mike%26#39;s Bike%26#39;s is what looks good since its on 1st and Boardwalk. Thanks for the directions as well :-) Still trying to figure out if 3 to 301 would be faster than going around DC and then over the bridge into Delaware and then into OC. Depends on if we%26#39;re coming from south or north end of the county I live in and we%26#39;re not sure yet. But thank you so much! I%26#39;ll bring it up next time we talk about which way to go.

I usually rent my bikes at Mikes Bikes down near the inlet. I know there is a couple near the inlet. I also know there is an Atlantic Bikes but I don%26#39;t know where.
